What We Learn

Our Summer Enrichment program extends the classroom into the summer by providing children the opportunity to grow their vocabulary, enhance their writing, nurture their comprehension and experience STEM activities each week revolving around a classic children’s book.

WEEK ONE: JUNE 5-9

Featured Book: If you Give a Mouse a Cookie. Focus words: up, in, look, you, a. STEM: Creating and following step by step activities (and maybe eating some cookies too)!

WEEK TWO: JUNE 12-16

Featured Book: Mixed. Focus words: one, down, it, said, is STEM: Inspiring young minds to explore the color wheel, creating scientific mixtures to create a color of their own.

WEEK THREE: JUNE 19-23

Featured Book: The Day the Crayons Quit. Focus words: see, funny, here, we. STEM: Learning primary and secondary colors as well as creating their own color palate.

WEEK FOUR: JUNE 26-30

Featured Book: Do Frogs Drink Hot Chocolate? Focus words: help, can, and, the, come. STEM: Investigating hibernation and how animals stay warm.

WEEK FIVE: JULY 10-14

Featured Book: The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Focus words: for, to, three, two. STEM: Discovering the life cycle of a caterpillar.

WEEK SIX: JULY 17-21

Featured Book: How the Crayons Saved the Rainbow. Focus words: find, me, little, red, blue. STEM: Creating an indoor weather storm out of everyday things.

WEEK SEVEN: JULY 24-28

Featured Book: Color Monster. Focus words: not, go, one, it, run STEM: Exploring our emotions and representing them with tangible things in the world around us.

WEEK EIGHT: JULY 31 - AUGUST 4

Featured Book: How to Catch a Turkey. Focus words: play, jump, away, my, I STEM: Let's get creative and design traps to catch a turkey!
